| wishlist 2009 |
[Nov. 29th, 2009|03:33 am] |
I've been pretty conflicted about posting my wishlist; on one hand its something of a fandom/lj/lj-clones tradition, and although many people try to grant wishes, its not a required or expected part of making the list. On the other hand, im really ashamed that I screwed up with Holiday wishes last year. I don't even remember who I promised to send stuff too last year (can't look back at my emails because there was a computer mishap) I could explain about all our medical and financial and family crisises but I don't want to focus on the negative and I doubt you'd enjoy reading it either. If I promised you something last year, please let me know, and I'll try to make it right this year. ( Read more... )
1. Health. This past year+ Bug and I have repeatedly been injured, gotten sick, had medical conditions get worse or appear for the first time and just overall feel crummy. We'd like a break from that.
2. For our rescued parrot, Argle Bargle, that we got 1 yr ago, to get over his fear of talking. (he can talk, and we hear him when he thinks he is alone, but he was punished by his previous owner. At least he whistles now, but he's still afraid to talk)
3. A house.
4. Time, energy and inspiration for my creative pursuits and the art and fic I've promised people
5. Forgiveness and understanding for my screw-ups / failings
6. The SRS surgery I can't afford and insurance wont cover
7. For our friendship with C to be less strained by our difference in beliefs/politics and the influence of her husband's prejudices.
8. More etsy sales ( http://www.etsy.com/shop/AGangi )
9. Books. Used is welcomed. Almost anything- you can see the books I have here: http://www.librarything.com/profile/AGangi and my wishlist here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3L8OAYYUWCO7D - so anything that fits in with the subjects I have listed there would be great. I also have begun to collect very simple children's books to read to argle the parrot. Also damaged books, especially with artwork that can be cut out is great for collages/craft supply.
10. Crafting supplies - just about anything including open/used/leftovers in good condition (eg: beading supplies, paints, fabric scraps etc)

| Stuff of a stufflike stuffness |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|07:23 pm] |
As we say in these parts. Another pretty mellow day; got up late, and decided not to grocery shop today since we had sufficient milk etc. to hold us till tomorrow, and fridge space was still at a premium with various leftovers occupying it. (We ate up a few things for dinner tonight.) Ran an errand or two, though, and have done almost all the LIS reading (1.5 more chapters to go) and posted in discussion for one class. Also hung out in the front yard with SO and the neighbors for a while.
Tomorrow I'll grocery shop, then make a whole lot of cranberry nut bread mini-loaves for gifting, and make mashed potatoes for dinner with leftover turkey & gravy and more leftover veggies. Turkey Sun/Tues/Thurs, gumbo Mon/Wed/Fri, I think. Easy. Will just need to make more veg eventually. We're going to throw a little holiday party in a couple of weeks and I'm starting to plot food for that.
Fic-stuff: alisanne is modding adventdrabbles at IJ again this year; she posts a daily prompt from December 1-24, but it's not required to use it, and ficlets as well as drabbles are welcome, in any fandom. beren_writes mods adventdrabbles at LJ, although doesn't do the prompts.
Less than 2 weeks until 3fan_holidays ficlets are due, and I put up the header template post for that today. And hd_holidays starts posting Tuesday, as will daily_deviant's Kinky Kristmas, and I believe also happy_trekmas. Whew - those are just the ones I'm participating in, too, and there are plenty of other fests kicking off shortly as well. |

| FIC: In Darkness and Regret (FFIV) |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|05:47 pm] |
Title: In Darkness and Regret Author: Rushlight Fandom: Final Fantasy IV Pairing: Cecil/Kain Spoilers: for pretty much the entire game Summary: Being honest with yourself is the first step toward true happiness, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can get there from here. Author's Notes: I just recently finished playing FFIV on the DS, and loved it. This little scene popped into my head as I was playing, and while I tried to resist I couldn't help writing it down.

By the way, hearkening back to my earlier post--this doesn't spoil anything, since you can see on the Yuletide list of requested fandoms that no one asked for it--I did not get assigned to write for Richard Adams's The Plague Dogs. I decided, when I accidentally included it in the list, that rather than redo my list I'd just go read the book once and for all, even before the assignments came out, so I got it from the library.
I got through Ulysses easier than this. This is...guys, I have written some interesting metaphors myself in my time, some of them admittedly more purple than should be seen outside of crackfic, but this takes them all:
...Rowf's rump slid suddenly forward as smoothly as a turd from a healthy anus...
I can't even facepalm. It's too squicky. |

| In which Lyv is a needy, needy thing... |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|12:03 pm] |
...errr. Anyone enjoying the holiday weekend enough to want to do some beta work for me? You need a break from eggnog and Christmas shopping, riiight? *puppy dog eyes*
These are the things wot I might need a teensy bit of help with:
1. a Kirk/Spock 2. a Remus/Sirius 3. a Sheldon/Leonard
Umm, so these are all for fests, except #3, so I can't give tons of details, but they're like, not at all scary, really. Nothing terribly squicky or sad or scary or anything. I can e-mail you details if you wants them.
Also, there is something that I am midway through writing (well. Not midway. but started, at least) and could use some cheerleading help on. If anyone is extra specially helpful, and wants to have capslocky chat conversations with me. Because capslock is love, and you know, I just need someone to help me focus on ficcage instead of pumpkin cheesecake.
Pleeeeeease? I will <3 you forever! |
